Loans

Saveeasy also offer low-interest loans.

- you have to save regularly for 13 weeks before you become eligible to apply for a loan.

- We encourage you to only borrow what you can afford to repay.

- If you decide to repay a credit union loan early you will not be charged a penalty.

Prepaid Alto card

We offer a prepaid card known as an ALTO Mastercard which you can load with your savings and use anywhere, including online and over the phone. Each time you buy something the cost is taken from the money loaded onto your card. You can arrange with your credit union to have regular payments loaded onto your card. Each top up costs 50p. Withdrawal from a cashpoint costs £1.

Free Life Insurance

Your savings are doubled at death and any outstanding loans balances are cancelled (subject to certain insurance conditions).

Child Trust Fund

Under FSCS rules we are only able to take applications for Child Trust Fund accounts from members who live or work within our bond area. This is Pembrokeshire, Carmarthen and Swansea.

Statements

You can request a printed statement at the office counter. There is no charge for this service.

Western Union

Saveeasy Credit Union is now offering Western Union international money transfer.

FSCS

We are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). The FSCS can pay compensation to depositors if a credit union is unable to meet its financial obligations. Most depositors - including most individuals and small business - are covered by the scheme. In respect of deposits, an eligible depositor is entitled to claim up to £85,000.

For joint accounts each account holder is treated as having a claim in respect of their share so, for a joint account held by two eligible depositors, the maximum that could be claimed would be £85,000 each (making a total of £170,000). The £85,000 limit relates to the combined amount in all the eligible depositors' accounts with the credit union, including their share of any joint account, and not each separate account.

For further information about the scheme (including the amounts covered and the eligibility to claim) please enquire at our office, refer to the FSCS website http://www.fscs.org.uk or call 0800 678 1100.
